2.3 - Where Linemen Fear to Tread Explained by Mingy. There are only two brief things that need explaining in today's strip, and they are the mention of two spells that are cast. The first is Undermine, which is another multicolored counterspell card. It requires both blue and black mana, and in addition to countering a spell, it also makes the person who cast the spell lose three life. The other card that is mentioned is Desolation Angel. Desolation angel is a 5/4 black, flying creature (flying means that that creature can only be blocked by another flying creature) for five mana. When it comes into play, it destroys all of your lands. It does, however, have a kicker cost of two white mana. If you pay the kicker cost, it destroys ALL lands in play, not just yours. This is an incredibly powerful effect if you are prepared to deal with it. Usually, your opponent is not... Make sense now? Go back to this comic.
